month’s letter……..big, Big, BIg, did I say BIG news at the end!
After all I’ve been through this past month, I’ve
been thinking a lot about old sayings like make lemonade out of lemons.
You know the ones I mean, you probably have some favorites of your own.
We all stumble. We stumble in our faith, self care, athletic training,
relationships and in just about every aspect of our lives. What might
this have to do with Joyinmovement? It seems to me when we use our
stumbles as stepping stones, the JOY returns, and often with a vigor not
experienced before and a sense of confidence and renewed purpose.

So here are some tips for stumbling your way to
success and taking it one stepping stone at a time.
success and taking it one stepping stone at a time.
#1
Honesty is the best policy. Be honest and open with yourself. The
dialogue you have with yourself is tantamount to moving forward and
working your way out of the stumble.

#2 In general, approach your life, work and
relationships with optimism and an attitude of positive expectations.
This makes it much easier when you stumble to start asking yourself
questions and deciding which stepping stone to take next.

#3 Just like everything else, learning from
stumbling is a skill. It’s a great skill to acquire and some of us get
more practice than others! Somehow though, when you become the kind of
person who sees stumbling as an opportunity to learn and move ahead and
flex those stumble-into-stepping-stone muscles, you get stronger over
time.

#4 I recently read that on average 70% of all the
decisions we make will be wrong. Startling, don’t you think? I’ve always
been one to cut my losses and move on. Reading this really confirmed
for me that in order to thrive we really need to cut our losses to
minimize our stumbles. Recognize when you’re stumbling and change
directions. The key to this is not ignoring tip #1.

#5 When you practice these tips you become more
resilient. You stumble, you learn, you better yourself and improve the
quality of your life. Imagine that your biggest challenge in life has
been sent to teach you something valuable. What might that be? Accept
that you are not perfect and that you sometimes make “bad” choices. How
would cutting your losses and getting on with your life IMPROVE the
quality of your life? What did you learn from your last stumble and did
you use that self knowledge?

As you learn to use stumbling in the
present as stepping stones, you create success in the future. I hope
these tips will help you.

putting it all together, and let’s just say I got plenty of
opportunities to turn my stumbling into successful stepping stones!
